OVERSEAS STUDENTS – VISA REQUIREMENTS FOR JORDANIAN STUDENTS (ASSESSMENT LEVELS 2, 3 and 4)

Australia welcomes genuine students who have access to adequate funds, sufficient English to undertake their studies, as well as a credible study/employment background. Three different Assessment Levels apply for Jordanian students as of 1 September 2008, depending on what type of study you plan to undertake.

Specific Visa Subclass requirements for Jordanian Students:

English Language Students (ELICOS) Subclass 570 (Assessment Level 4)
This visa is for international students who want to study English Language Intensive Courses for Overseas Students (ELICOS) in Australia. Key eligibility criteria are evidence of funds* held for a minimum of 6 months before the date of visa application and a minimum IELTS score of 5.0.

Higher Education Students Subclass 573 (Assessment Level 3)
This visa is designed for international students applying to study a Bachelor degree, Masters by coursework, associate degree, graduate certificate or graduate diploma in Australia. Key eligibility criteria are evidence of funds* held for a minimum of 3 months before the date of visa application and a minimum IELTS score of 5.0. Postgraduate Research Students Subclass 574 (Assessment Level 2)
This visa is designed for international students who want to study a Masters degree by research or a Doctoral degree in Australia. Evidence of funds* is mandatory but a history of savings is not required. The applicant must also give evidence that he or she has a level of English language proficiency that satisfies his or her proposed education provider in Australia. General Visa processing requirements for Jordanian Students:

You need to provide the following with your completed visa application form 157A (downloadable from 157A.pdf). Please provide certified English translations of all Arabic-language supporting documents. All photocopied documents must be accompanied by the original to be sighted at lodgement:

• A letter of provisional offer from the university or college where you wish to study in Australia;
• A copy of your qualification and academic transcript showing your academic results from your most recent qualification (all copies certified by the Ministry of Higher Education and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs);
• A penal certificate from the Court of Justice, certified by the Ministry of Justice and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs;
• A good conduct certificate from the General Intelligence Department, certified by the Ministry of Interior and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs;
• A family census detailing your parents and siblings;
• If you are employed, your employment reference should be authenticated and certified by the Ministry of Labour and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; and
• If you are under 18 years of age, written consent to travel signed by both of your parents and witnessed by an appropriate official.
• Your passport and two recent passport photographs (less than 6 months old); and
• Application fee in Jordanian Dinars (cash only; cheques and credit cards are not accepted)
